We usually think of prophecy coming from, well, … prophets—people like you and me, except perhaps that they would be more austere, serious, and with flashing eyes that could pierce the soul. Does not God say, “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7)?

But it is not always PEOPLE God uses to reveal those secrets.

1Co 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; (28) and base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: (29) that no flesh should glory in his presence.

Outside of using people, one of the other ways God communicates His will is using types to foreshadow its counterpart or antitype in a later period. Every lamb slain in the Old Testament sacrificial system was a prophecy of the spotless Lamb of God who Himself would die for the sins of the world. The embroidered colors on the courtyard door, the bleached white linen hangings, the brazened laver, the golden candlestick, and many other expressions of the tabernacle also prophesied of some unique aspect of this future Messiah. Though skilled hands may have formed many of these, the message was not dependent on the craftsman. It was in the fabric or article or sacrifice or ceremony for later generations to observe and decipher.

But this portable tabernacle isn’t the only one God designed to speak His intentions through.

1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Whatever God does He does with forethought, with love and compassion to all His created beings, with wisdom and, sometimes even, with prophetic intent. When Jesus fulfilled a prophetic moment (riding into Jerusalem on a donkey) everyone was ecstatic, thinking now Christ was going to assume his kingly position—well, everyone but a group of Pharisees.

Luke 19:39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. (40) And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

If prophecy would be fulfilled by whatever means, then could not prophecy also come by whatever means? So we shouldn’t be surprised that within our very bodies would be messages of comfort, love, assurance, and perhaps even some special messages that would some day make sense for a special time. I would like to address one of these.

In the last chapter, The (Prophetic) Ossification Timetable, of my bone book (available here) we talk about the timing of the maturing of different bones in our body. It is in this timetable that we find several types waiting for their fulfillment in the last days. If you haven’t looked at the book yet let me say this. It is very apparent that God designed bones to help us understand His Laws. Both bones and laws were designed to be foundations of something greater, yet never intended to be seen or even noticed. As a skyscraper’s foundation is buried deep within the earth, and our skeletal system protrudes from the body only in horrendous circumstances, so the Ten Commandments were ordered to be placed in the golden ark in the Most Holy Place where only one human was to enter and only one day a year. It was God’s intent that that law would be written on the hearts and minds of all His people and lived out in faithful and loving service. That’s the way He intended His laws to be proclaimed to the world, not by some artistic rendition of the inscribed tablets of stone hanging on someone’s wall or in the Halls of Justice.

Ossification? That is simply the name given to our skeletal system changing from a cartilage model to an osseous (true bone) one. If you want to learn why that is necessary read What Life Without Law Looks Like. When this change is complete for a bone that part of the skeleton can perform as God intended throughout the rest of that person’s life. However, it follows a pattern, a schedule: top to bottom, outside to inside. In other words,The arms will ossify before the legs, the fingers before the forearm, the feet before the spine. Keep this in mind.

As it works for bones it also works for laws.

If you want to get the details on this process, go to The… Timetable, for we will not go there here. Instead I want to go to where we are in the unfolding of God’s laws TODAY, in the legs. The feet are already done!

How does the process go? From top to bottom, outside to inside, right?

So by the time we get to the legs the process has already been going on in other parts of the body– some have finished and others just about to finish. But one thing we know, the appendages (arms and legs, hands and feet) will finish BEFORE the lower bones in the spine (which are on the INSIDE).

Oh, for those readers that are just happening on this and don’t have the perspective of the bone book, the inside bones equate with the laws relating to our expression of love to God (the core of our being), and the outside bones, the appendages, equate to the laws relating to our expression of love to man. And things above the waist relate more to public things and below the waist to private matters. OK, now with that in mind we can go back to the legs.

The legs are like pillars upholding the whole body, and, according to human experience, that could easily equate to family matters: husband and wife, mom and dad, and even master and servant. Each leg is unique and separate from the other, yet both work together. In the Bible, at least, these are all considered “below the waist” relationships. Here’s one tiny example:

Gen 24:2 And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh: (3) and I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

We talk about raising our children “on our knee”. We invite a lover or loved one to sit on our lap. If a stranger comes up to us and the first contact he or she makes is below the waist we have red flags going up all over the place. I think you get the picture. Legs are for family matters, sensitive issues, human authority, and it is here where we are today.

The big things that seem to get our attention these days:

rape

child molestation

homosexuality

divorce

same sex marriages

unfaithfulness

pornography

sex-based issues

personal identity

Churches and communities are struggling because families are falling apart. Divorce rate is high. Husbands and wives are working to make ends meet and their children are seeking elsewhere for leadership or entertainment. And it’s not good. These are last day issues.

Last day?

Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. (27) They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. (28) Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; (29) but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. (30) Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

But we already know all this. We know wickedness and immorality was rampant before the flood, and what Sodom was famous for. (If you don’t, you can get a good start by looking up the word “Sodomy”.) We know we are in those times. So what’s the big deal about this “prophecy”stuff?

It’s what the Timetable says comes next!

When the times are finished to make clear God’s counsel on family things, and sexual matters, and the personal identity God chose for us, that going against that counsel will result in only evil, then that finishes all that God chooses to reveal to humans about the last 6 commandments (on loving our neighbor… as ourself), or the “second” law of heaven (Matthew 22:39).

And what’s left?

The bottom part of the spine. And when you read The… Timetable you will understand why the spine is related to TEST & TRIAL in matters of God’s will. But just what test it is isn’t the point I want to make here. You can go to the Timetable to find out. There it is dealt with in more detail.

The “prophetic” part that I want to emphasize here is that something, something big, is going to get the world’s attention from family and immorality issues to a “what-must-I-do-to-be-saved” emphasis? Just what that is I don’t know. All I can tell is that it must be big enough to make spiritual things top priority on the news and common talk on the streets… all over the world! That’s what the Timetable promises. The focus of the world will be on whom we worship and how. And you know as well as I do, that that kind of talk is not where the world is today. But it will be soon. Very soon.

Why do I say “soon”? As we follow the legs to the trunk of the body, the closer we get to the groin, the issues become more and more sensitive… and explicit. And I don’t know how much more “explicit” we can get these days. Something is about to break.

But the Timetable does tell us what the subject will be on, for remember, “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” And in this case, the “prophets” are within us! Of course the Bible tells us the same thing, but in Bible-talk, not bone-talk.
