CONCERNING THE FORMAT OF GARDEN COINS

John 3:12  If I have told you earthly things and you believe not, how shall you believe if I tell you of heavenly things?

We are illustrating this relationship between the spiritual and the physical as Garden Coins. The “HEADS” side is the spiritual and the “TAILS” side is the earthly or physical. Both sides describe some aspect of the same coin and contribute to its originality and value. So it shall be in this devotional. On each day we will identify which side of the coin we are addressing at that point.

But Garden Coins is intended to be more than a spiritual guide for the day. Though it is filled with character building lessons picked fresh from our gardens, it also is chuck full of helpful tips for maximizing garden productivity. Whether we look at the “HEAD” side or “TAIL” side, it’s still the same coin, has the same value, works on the same principles, and can be “spent” for heavenly or earthly purposes.

The gardening method we address here I call Eclectic. The Eclectic Gardener looks for the best in many methods and applies them to produce the best possible garden. It is not necessary to downplay any particular method, but rather to draw out from each that which harmonizes with the principles of heaven and produces a nutrient dense or high brix garden, including trees, flowers, fruits, and vegetables, that excel in beauty, taste, nutrition, and lasting quality, and a gardening system that has no need of insecticides, natural or chemical.

As character formation is a learning process so gardening is a life-long experience in discovery. The Word of God is broad-based. We will be drawing from the written Word as well as the created Word, the world of sciences as they relate to gardening.

Deuteronomy 19:15  At the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

Hopefully, this thought-provoking devotional will help gardens again become that special place to commune with our Creator, find refreshment, inspiration, and strength to face the day, as well as to infuse us with new life, both natural and spiritual, to bless the world about us… as Earth’s first Garden was intended to be in the beginning.

This devotional is not set up in a “HOW to garden” layout, but rather in a “how to garden BETTER” format. It covers various methods, helps, formulas, and procedures in somewhat of a “landscape” format.—the more unpredictable, the more interesting.
